Local Schools

Grow Together works with both the primary and secondary ages as well as developing work for a SEND audience. We deliver practical growing sessions across school terms developing school gardens, inducting volunteers and consulting with schools keen to develop their grounds.
We design growing programmes with you, tailored to the children you teach, your space, your soil and the resources you have available. We can tailor a programme to encompass the full food cycle - Grow it - Cook it - Eat it - Compost it. Or we can link a particular aspect of our programme to the educational curriculum your school is currently teaching.
Our schools growing programme includes:
-
A one to two year course for schools, introducing practical growing skills into the curriculum.
-
Helping you clarify what you would like to achieve, by gaining an understanding of your short term and long term aims and aspirations.
-
Working with you to select, design and create a suitable growing space on site (or nearby) so the children can directly experience growing fresh produce and flowers.
-
Mentoring and partnering with your appointed school ‘Growing Ambassador’ to deliver practical growing sessions with the children and a growing and harvesting schedule that coincides with school terms.
-
Providing on-going support, guidance and activities that the children and school can do to make the most of lesson time and your growing space.
-
Working with you to effectively engage the children that you teach and align the classes to their abilities.
-
Connecting you with other school Growing Ambassadors we work with to share experiences, encourage and support one another.
-
Engaging with members of the local community to help support and maintain your growing space by weeding, watering and providing holiday maintenance if needed.

“I cannot thank you guys enough. The atmosphere was inspiring! It was amazing seeing the kids all responding to what they were being shown. I learnt lots too!
I will be singing your praises in the newsletter next week!”
