About Us

Grow Together Bucks is a Community Interest Company (CIC) limited by guarantee. In other words, we are a ‘not for profit’ organisation. We were founded in 2020 to benefit local residents in South Bucks. We aim to support residents from all backgrounds, but specifically those in greatest need.

In spring 2020, we inherited an overgrown allotment at Back Lane. With the help of our community gardeners, we transformed the plot into a 300m2 growing space with a greenhouse, compost and potting area and patio near the river edge.

Our objectives are:
-
To enhance the lives of individuals
-
Engage with local businesses
-
Improve biodiversity
-
Protect the environment.

We achieve these by:
-
Facilitating community volunteering and collaboration
-
Helping people understand the importance of their source of food and the role that a good diet plays in general wellbeing
-
Enabling our volunteer gardeners to grow and harvest produce
-
Providing volunteers with home-grown fruit and veg which they can incorporate into their diet
-
Involving community gardeners in the design, planning, growing cycles, harvesting, storing and cooking of produce
-
Promoting the reduction of food waste by donating any spare produce to the local foodbank (and encouraging other allotment tenants to do the same)
-
Providing practical growing programmes for local Primary, Secondary and SEND (Special Educational Needs) schools
-
Teaching pupils the importance of soil, the seasons, biodiversity and compost ecology
-
Working with companies to meet their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments
-
Partnering with other local organisations who complement our aims/objectives
